Serimax offers welding solutions for companies that operate in extreme conditions and demanding environments, on land and at sea, worldwide. With Novacura Flow they have a solution that works offline.

Most of Serimax’s clients are found within the petroleum industry, and on-site project work usually involves welding pipelines. To learn more, we talked to Joel Bedos, Coordinator of IFS User Support at Serimax.

The biggest benefit is that everyone within the company has access to the correct stock status, numbers and values at any point in time. This is a huge benefit for all our project groups and our finance department.

Why did Serimax choose Novacura Flow?

In 2010, they installed a new ERP system, IFS Applications. Since then, they’ve been looking for a robust and reliable solution that can cope with synchronizing the stock status at local project sites with their central server and IFS here in Paris.

Why was it such a big challenge?

We work in extreme weather conditions in some of the world’s most inaccessible places, from temperatures of -45°C in Canada and Russia to +55°C in Mexico and Saudi Arabia. Internet access is often very poor or non-existent in these locations. It’s important for us to have full control of local stock balances in order to ensure an effective work process. With Novacura Flow’s offline solution, we can sync local data with the central server securely during the brief periods of good internet access. Since these are also tough environments for our staff to work in, we demand a lot from the interface we use. It needs to be simple and robust. Our employees working at our project sites are extremely satisfied with the way the solution works.

How did you work before Novacura Flow?

We mostly worked in lots of different Excel files. This often involved a great deal of duplicated work, as the same data had to be entered several times, first in the Excel file and then in IFS. This meant a greater risk of errors. There could also be lengthy delays between the occasions when figures came in from our project sites. Quite simply, we didn’t have a satisfactory overall snapshot of our 20-25 different project sites around the world.

What benefits do you see with the new solution?

The biggest benefit is that everyone within the company has access to the correct stock status, numbers and values at any point in time. This is a huge benefit for all our project groups and our finance department. We’ve also been able to save time through reduced administration, as well as minimizing the margin for error since data is now only input once.
